Ambassador Media Group was founded as Ambassador Yellow Pages in 1999 by successful media and business executives, and is funded privately by equity funds. Since the 2000 launch of its County-wide directory in Manhattan, Ambassador has successfully expanded its directory business into eight markets, publishing a Queens directory in 2001, a Brooklyn directory in 2002, a bilingual Bronx directory in 2004, a Staten Island directory in 2006, and two Nassau County directories in 2007.

In 2006, Ambassador ranked second in usage in every New York City marketplace except one, according to Knowledge Networks/SRI—an impressive accomplishment after only six years of publishing yellow pages directories. Currently, over 5 million directories are published and distributed by Ambassador on an annual basis.
